Perhaps you need counselling  rubschin:

No, just some help digging.

I suspected their was something wrong with it a few days ago, as it wasn't eating its food.
However, the daughter next door had been there quite a bit, tidying and cleaning/sorting stuff, as the house has just gone up for rental 2 days ago, so I logically and initially suspected that she's been feeding it, like she admitted to doing a couple of weeks ago...sausages and milk.  ::)

It was when it literraly fell over outside yesterday afternoon that I felt something was seriously wrong.
Gave it some milk which it didn't really drink much of, tiny bit of food, and then it just went and lay down in it's basket for 6 hours before finally 'shutting down'.

Those last 20 minutes will haunt me forever. cry:

Was the place unoccupied before that? If so, may she have had a good clean-up and possibly put rat poison down?  Your guilt is assuaged  angel1

Always sad to watch a pet die, even if you didn't like it but it comes to us all in the ned.

You say you've never watched the last moments before ~ trust me it's even worse when it's a person.

No, 'tis true.
Fortunately  confused: missed those dreadful , almost unspeakable moments with both my parents.
I never knew it could actually be so harrowing, literally just having to stand there...watching helplessly, feeling as though you should be doing something but not knowing what.

Anyway, the poor old creature has gone to his place now, and no doubt some plant will be sitting there on top within the next few days.

Can't believe just how choked i am, especially after all I've said about it.

I'm bloody evil.

Whenever anybody dies here the Cypriots say "this is life"...  Shrugs:

And they are right

Most religions have a basic belief that is expressed at funerals. In the Church of England the most common form of words is

Quote
We have but a short time to live.
Like a flower we blossom and then wither;
like a shadow we flee and never stay.
In the midst of life we are in death;
to whom can we turn for help,
but to you, Lord, who are justly angered by our sins?
Yet, Lord God most holy, Lord most mighty,
O holy and most merciful Saviour,
deliver us from the bitter pain of eternal death.
Lord, you know the secrets of our hearts;
hear our prayer, O God most mighty;
spare us, most worthy judge eternal;
at our last hour let us not fall from you,
O holy and merciful Saviour.

I imagine that religion in Cyprus follows this theme thus saying "this is life" is a recognition of the fact that death comes to us all, it is an inevitable outcome of life.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

There may be hope yet

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1260322/Cat-killed-car-comes-life-months-owner-buries-him.html
You joke, but I've just come back from taking MM to scooooell, and there out of the corner of my eye was a black shape on the front door mat in the porch, quite a usual sight waiting to come in to be fed.
I tell you, it really gave me a hell of shock for a micro second,  eeek: until I actually realised that it was simply my black work boots that I'd left out to be washed of all of the mud on them, after digging that large hole in next doors front garden yeaterday morning.
