Incident screens are a complete and utter waste of time and money imho, and could even be a bigger distraction to motorists on the opposite carriageway than a fully visible accident.
They are virtually screaming out for rubberneckers to TRY and get a glimpse of some gore, as they are advertising the fact that there's been a serious incident.
That in itself leads to this so called natural human tendency towards morbid curiosity.
Permanent and full screening off of the carriageways on all of the motorways in the UK is the only answer imo. Sitting on the fence, dilly dallying and doing absolutely bugger all is NOT however.
I do appreciate that my idea is only applicable and of any use for accidents on the opposite carriageway.
Dunno what the answer is for accidents on the same side that you're on.
