She's in a home.  Surrounded by people with more opinions and less marbles.  In just over a week a massive cheque is going into her bank account and she needs every penny to keep her in that home for longer than she is expected to live.

I'd explain the situation to the person running the home, they will have vested interest in pointing out the best cause of action to your mother.
