Stayed at home ... Decided to weed around the water meter and while removing a stubborn root with a hammer, I broke the pipe on the mains side of the meter Had a high pressure geyser erupt about 30 metres high and got soaked through trying to cap it. Had to call in the Polish builder who had been drinking Vodka all day and he called someone else to turn off the water to the whole village so that he could repair it. Meanwhile the geyser is still going strong and there is a flood of water running down the main street. All this on Christmas Day but the whole thing only took about 90 minutes to fix. Imagine doing that in the UK on Christmas Day. Wouldn't have been fixed until New Year... I have now calmed down and relaxed with a litre of village red...
