 eeek:

Ages ago I was overcome by an urge to write to Peter Mandelson in relation to a story about his reptilian dealings. He keeps his Lords e mail address secret for some reason, but I located his Faceache page and wrote to him there instead. Last night he replied. He thinks I am an "idiot" apparently. I am delighted.

Fixing the washing machine part 2...  evil:

Fixing the washing machine part 2...  evil:

Translation: Fixing what I gubbed up while trying to make the original repair.  whistle:

 cussing:

I had a problem with the machine slowly filling with water (over a few days) when it was switched off. Not really a huge issue but if we had bunged washing in it ready for the next run it went smelly and we obviously couldn't leave it for a long period if we went away...

So I diagnosed a faulty inlet valve. It is just a three-way solenoid operated valve that sends the mains water to the pre-wash, wash or conditioner trays.

Miele Cyprus didn't answer my e-mail so I ordered a part from fleabay for fifty squids.

Part arrived in a week, was fitted and voila! problem was solved!  angel1

Came home from the airport last night to discover water running out of the front of the machine, flooding the utility room and making a reasonable impression of Niagara Falls down the staircase to my man cave!  evil:

Clearly, the new inlet valve had failed. Switched off the water at the mains and the flooding stopped. Put the machine into 'drain' and spent several hours mopping up...  noooo:

I e-mailed the company I bought the part from and explained that it was FUBAR...

Today I spent time on the telephone to Miele and have a part being sent by DHL from Greece to arrive early next week... Should have called them in the first place with hindsight but calling Cypriot companies can often be quite a painful experience...

Half an hour ago I received an e-mail from Kyle

Quote from: Kylie
HI,

Thank you for your email, there could be another issue with this. Have you thought about getting some advice from an engineer?

Kind regards,
Kyle

Get a fucking man in!  cussing:

I have replied in no uncertain terms that I am an engineer and have proved beyond doubt that their dodgy part has failed...  eveilgrin:

Didn't get the chance to write this earlier but either little drummer fuckwit has learned to count to three or there has been some kind of monkeys and typewriters moment. It almost sounds like he has discovered rhythm of a sort....  rubschin:
