Those who attend Church will know that "Hymns Ancient & Modern" is now a thing of the past (although I note a strong defence of it by Douglas Hurd in this month's "Oldie")
The recent exchange about cherry scones reminded me of this as a very popular Hymn among the trendy vicars is something that asks
"Who put the colours in the Rainbow?
Who put the salt into the sea?
Who put the cold into the snowflake?
Who made you and me?"
and so on.
When in church my little beasts sing this lustily but have adapted the words to:
"Who put the cherry on the rock cake?
Who puts salt upon their chips?
Can we have ice cream for pudding?
You and Mummy made me!"
Parents stand

and hope we are the only ones who can hear them.
