They probably never took it off in the first place 

It's a Greene King pub - and they actually DID lower prices when the VAT came down. Can't say fairer than that!  Two decent main meals for ?8 , as well.

We are now back at the rented house - the heating is slowly warming the place up, but I'm still colder than a Witch's Bosom.

TBH TMR it was a joke.

As for Swindon ~ I never liked the place. The RAF sent me there, I got married for the first time there, my first two (acknowledged) children were born there. RAF demobbed me there ..... I left a year or so later. Horrid place full of porridge wogs and moonrakers.  

And mongs. Don't forget the mongs. there are loads of them. I believe this to be the town where the phrase "Hello Uncle Dad" emanated.
