Today, I am recovering from a neighbours BBQ.

Started on Hogsback ale at 4%.
Then there was the 7%.
Finally the 9%.

I can still smell BBQ!

Oh yes, and very nice it was too.

The Stilton and red wine when I came home were very nice also.

Today is the first of this year's village Duck Races. Everyone gathers at the Falls and 100 numbered yellow plastic ducks are released to float down a measured course. Bets are placed and the Minister adjudicates in the event of disputes. Racing goes on all afternoon ~ they usually have 100 races. Money raised this afternoon is in aid of the village school's funds.
For those who don't know we do have a 60 foot waterfall with a garden at the bottom. In the garden will be the usual cake stalls, teas, hoopla etc. It is terminally boring but I expect we will go.
The ducks do not have to negotiate the falls as the race course is in the river below.

Looks as though it's been 'fiddled with' to me.
That water looks decidedly unwaterfallish imo. rubschin:

State of the Falls depends very much on the recent weather ~ obviously.

But No ~ if you stand in the right place it does look like that ~ shutter speed adjusted to create the effect I should think.

Here are some more ~ you can see that over the years the falls have been "tamed" by some work to channel them.
In full flood back in the 1920s

This one shows the last of the Mills (there were 7 in all along the river) It was pulled down in the 1950s

A Victorian Print

Taken a couple of years ago by a friend of mine ~ river was in full flood following heavy rain

From the footbridge over the river as it leaves the falls

The Church at the base of the falls. The river runs behind the wall but in front of the hedge.

Looks bootiful!  ;D

Shutter speed adjusted to give longer exposure is right. You can tell by the movement of the foliage about 2/3rds up on the left on your original pic  8)

Unfortunately the only falls round these parts are performed by members of the local Philosophical Society after several cans of Red Stripe  ;)

Funnily enough I'm thinking of getting the bike out of the shed. It'll need the cobwebs and dust blowing off though

It didn't happen yesterday, but I had an enjoyable bike ride earlier. Weather conditions were just right, not to hot, not to cold, a gentle breeze, I'm now looking forward to the next time. All I need to do now is remember where I put the bike pump so that I could easily find it  confused: . Given the cost of them, it'll be easier to buy a new one

I have one of those Tyre Inflators that one plugs into the car cigar lighter.
Works brilliantly on the boys bikes ~ 35psi is all that's needed.

I'm just 'avin' a chiken Madras what I've made (ish) like, and then I'm going up 'me'ill' on me bike.

The meal should assist me hopefully. ;)

Fruit salad at the top as a reward if I make it. cloud9:
