Yesterday I took the family to the Peak District. They have been down caves, up 'ills much bigger and much less covered in people than Moel Famau and generally had a good time.
Today we did  Caernarfon Castle and the Snowdonia. Again many caves and much, much bigger 'ills with even fewer people with the added attraction of a ride on a steam railway. Weather has been fantastic for such trips.
The Mobility Scooter has proved its worth taking me all over Caernarfon Castle, town centre and harbour at speeds greater than the family could walk. I had to turn it down..
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

I'm sure they are indeed bigger, and possibly even less crowded too.

However, as much as I'd love to spend several days and evenings a week out there, I don't really think it can compete with the mere 25 minutes drive from my front door, the full 360 degree magnificent panaromic varying views of two countries and sevral counties, including the Isle of Man, covering probably thousands of square miles on a clear day, and glorious sunsets over the Irish sea to gaze at at this time of the year too. cloud9:

Go up 'me 'ill mid evening like I did again tonight, and you quite often get the place entirely to yourself. cloud9:
Saw a whole ONE other person tonight!

Indeed ~ I gave them the choice of Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House or a cave tour. They, for various reasons (Daughter doing A level Geology, two small boys who thought it would be more exciting than a lot of old furniture and pictures and SWWLTBO because she too has done Geology ~ at Cambridge), elected a cave tour which meant I sat in the car for an hour and a half  and read the paper. This is because, good though my new toy is, it doesn't do caving. However more than made up for it by going to Caernarfon the following day.
Actually sitting in the car, listening to the Test Match and reading the Telegraph isn't such a bad option ~ since I have previously done the caves, Chatsworth and Haddon (ex wife came from Sheffield so many holidays took us back there to visit her family and such outings were the order of the day).
