They are going to remove and replace the implanted defibrillator. Has to be done every 6 to 7 years. Hopefully they will not need to replace the leads (that is unpleasant and more dangerous). Usually they try to get away with pulling the device out and unscrewing the leads that connect it to the heart and attaching them to the new device before putting it back in.

Local anaesthetic job ~ more uncomfortable and unpleasant than anything ~ although they do turn up the tap on the drip fed valium to put me out in order to deliver shocks to test the damned thing before closing the wound.

It will, of course, take weeks to heal properly because of the blood thinning drugs I take and I shall have many sleepless nights because every time I move it will hurt.

A small price to pay for another 6 or 7 years of keeping us in line.  ;)

In fact a classic case of "No Doctor ~ Don't take it out ..... Just change the batteries"

I'm surprised you don't just have a little charger socket on your neck, like a mobile phone.

It would be handy but as yet they haven't perfected the idea.

Meanwhile it was a long, boring and hot afternoon spent mainly answering questions that I answered 4 weeks ago ~ at one point I changed my answers from those previously given  eveilgrin:  and sure enough the questioning  "Nurse Specialist" picked up on the variance immediately. "So why bother to haul me all this way if you already have the answers?"
 Reply came there none. noooo:

A beautiful evening.  A sky-blue pink sky.  On a night like this I just want to get in my car and drive towards the light as the sun sets, prolly end up in Milford Haven or Aberythswyth, by the sea anyway.   sad32:

I've just come back from up 'me ill' with me mate and G jnr. like, watching a glorious sunset over the Irish Sea at 9:54, on this, the longest day.  cloud9:
Quite a few others up there quietly doing the same, beautiful. cloud9:

Still all glowy in the western sky even now.

Why's the summer solstice called 'mid summers day' when in fact it's the first official day of summer?
My reckoning is it should be mid August some time. rubschin:
