Been to gym, had brekkers, watched Cenotaph service.

Why don't we hear the guns anymore?
Always did when I was a kid.

Wind in the wrong direction prolly. The sound effects mics are only at the Cenotaph.

We used to hear the guns from various parts of London, but also from various barracks around both full time army and TA.
Most of them have gone now.

The site where I had my first flat was mainly occupied by army families, overspill from caterham barracks. More ex-army flats (due for demolition for some time now) about 200 yards down the road from here.
Grew up being used to the idea of service uniforms being worn on the street and military vehicles on the roads.

Ah the good old days.

They stopped servicemen from wearing uniforms off camp when the IRA were doing their worst. Many servicemen were attacked in the streets by people who blamed them for the IRA bombs on the mainland..  ::)

So I get a call from the Oil Delivery man who is lost!
The depot is 1/2 a mile from my house  doh:
He has punched the wrong postcode into his sat nav and is 5 miles away!

I talk him through the route back. 4 more calls until he finally shows up and I end up "Talking him down" as if he is a stricken aircraft. Well at least I know how ..... should have got out the boys' table tennis bats I 'spose and put into practice skills learned 43 years ago!

After delivering the oil he stands and chats in the pouring rain, I finally get rid of him and come back indoors, removing wet coat.

Just got coat off and Currys phone to say they are en route with the new cooker but are lost Banghead

Repeat performance without finding the table tennis bats.

New cooker is in.

Chatty Curry's man is gassing away and wife is trying to get up the narrow lane he is parked in so she calls on her mobile to say "Get that f'king twat out of my way!" I have my phone on loud speaker  redface:

The day can only get better  surrender:

I'm up early ~ the lad's off for Rememberance Day parades with the ATC.

Minimus is "Laying The Wreath" on behalf of the Cubs.
THW is leading her troop of Beavers (No jokes perlease!) on the march.
SWWLTBO is going to watch and Minor is accompanying her in my stead.

I AM WAITING IN FOR A FOOKING COOKER DELIVERY  surrender:

I went to the service at a church nearby along with approx. 200 others of all ages from what is a small village, then on to the chapel itself.
