I have been to Gun Village today.   ;D

Guns...  Drool:

I am going shooting tomorrer like...  eveilgrin:

Given the areas Tipsy has been visiting of late, I suspect it's more likely shooting up is taking place rather than shooting pheasant/grouse

Good man yerself

 angel1

A long long time ago...in a galaxy far far away...I was given a .177 air rifle to shoot on my grandparents small holding...I was only about 10.

Anyhoo...I shot her favourite Robin red breast, along with  a few tree rats... whistle:

noooo: Hell hath no fury like a angry Nan...Still feel guilty now...

I used to shoot at Norton Barracks, dont know if you know it.  Its gone now.  Think there is a housing estate on there now.  And my Uncles used to lean a 12 bore in the corner of the living room behind the chair.  As far as I know it was for pigeons and rats.

Norton Barracks...My dad lived about a mile away in Littleworth...before he went to the bar in the sky...

He used the keep the British Legion Club in business..after he died they had to close it...

Bloody tyke.... from Miss C's neck of the woods

My neck now or one of my other necks?

Why do woods have necks?

It's an Americanism ~ a corruption in fact of 15th Century English when a "Neck of Land" was a narrow strip that joined two larger pieces of land ~ as in a neck joining the head to the body.
The new settlers in America were determined to not use such "English" and to their mind outdated expressions and used "Your Neck of the Woods" to describe a neighbourhood.
They "invented" many other words or rather adapted the usage to better suit their purpose.

Or at least that's what my reference books tell me.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
