Bill Posters Will Be Band was formed in 1983 from ex-members of The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, The Temperance Seven and Bob Kerr's Whoopee Band with the prime aim of having fun with music. Playing anything and everything from banjo to saxophone, musical saw to teapot in any style of music that can be sent-up, reinvented or even (on occasion) played seriously, their performances combine the exuberance of Spike Jones with the nostalgia of the 1930s Showbands whilst majoring on creative musical mayhem. Novelty numbers, classical overtures and ‘songs from the shows’ are mixed with Traditional Jazz, Rock & Roll and Dance Music, throw in ‘Oh Play To Me Gypsy’ accompanied by Strohviol and violin, Music Hall favourites with audience participation and Russian melodies played on accordion and spoons and you’re beginning to get the ideaThey sound fantastic!
