 Banghead cussing:

Having had a heart attack and a stroke I decided to do the sensible thing and join the local gym.

Went to local gym yesterday. Registered.  I was then told that I would need a GP referral and that I would then be seen by their cardiac specialise.

Called my surgery today to ask if there was a form I could fill out that a GP could sign off.  Oh noes you need to see the doctor.

Appointment was made for 10.30.

Attended consultation and was told that he would not refer me until I had done a cardiac rehabilitation course some 10 miles away. I was also informed that bits of me are not working properly.

Called the re-hab centre to be told that I needed a GP referal to attend the course. Banghead

If I didn't want to get sodding fit I would be losing the will to live right now. Angry9:

I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

noooo: I might have to have cake to compensate. I have no cake and I don't think 2 lettuce leaves and a courgette are going to have quite the same effect. sad24:

After my heart attack (stent fitted - unusual/interesting experience that) the hospital asked me if I wanted to attend the cardiac rehab classes there - 7 week course, twice a week. Did that and got me piece of paper that I had to take to the gym. The instructor (Evie, member of the British cardiac support team or summat) was very good and set me up with a programme to suit my needs, mainly cardio-vascular with some resistance work as well.
The rehab was very helpful, being a mix of exercise and education (women very rarely have a myocardial infarction - sounds than heart attack - before the menopause and don't catch men up on the risk scale until their seventies).
I think my rehab unit has been shut down and moved to St Georges at Tooting, occasionly see one of the nurses that worked wirt me.

Last lot of cardiac rehab I had lasted under 5 minutes .... Doctor supervising stopped it after about  two minutes on the treadmill and said "Forget it mate, your blood pressure is soaring and you may have a heart attack". The rehab nurses were all for carrying on but the Doc reckoned that it was a sure way to kill me. Now I have an electric scooter.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Never did get my cardiac rehab. I was told that I would receive a referral but nothing ever turned up and I didn't pursue it.

We sound like a load of old crocks though.  noooo:
