It's called scrumping when you liberate them from gardens/orchards; not Tescos and Sainsburys

[serious] About a quarter of a mile from the house there is a long hedge which separates two fields. It mostly consists of mature elder which my mother and grandmother used to pick berries from and make gallons of wine which was distributed through the family. My eldest daughter has done the same, but in a smaller way.
One Sunday last year, I spotted two cars stopped in the gateway to the field and two complete families with several children, all armed with plastic buckets filled with berries.
I approached them and asked what they thought they were doing and was told, albeit politely, that they were going to make wine. When I pointed out they were my berries, the response was "but they are only growing in a hedge". I pointed out that it was my hedge and how would they like it if I went in their garden and picked whatever I liked.
They couldn't see the connection.
"Leave some for my prize bull to eat when he comes down this end of the field" seemed to hasten their departure.  whistle: [/serious]

Tut tut Mr. Darwin Sir,  there is only ever a problem when you get caught.   angel1

I have been carrying out a survey at work of those people who understand the meaning of scrumping.  About 50% have never heard of it.   eeek:

What will they all do the next time we have a war and have to make do and mend etc. etc. ?    noooo:
It's better than I ever even knew.  They say that the world was built for two.  Only worth living if somebody is loving you.  Baby now you do.

A massively delayed Prague flight (due to a bird strike) led to me being asked to take a passenger's Guide Dog for a piss. An unusual request.  I got the dog downstairs onto the ramp, but it wouldn't go. Turns out it will only piss on grass, as it had been trained to do :D:D:D
