How can you have an open day at a lock?
Surely all the water runs away.

Good Afternoon Everyone!!

On the 2nd and 3rd December we are holding an open weekend at Derwent Mouth Lock on the Trent and Mersey Canal near Shardlow, Derbyshire from 9am to 5pm.

The event provides an opportunity to see a lock stoppage which is being delivered by the Direct Services Team.  We will be allowing members of the public access into the drained lock chamber.  There will also be a range of activities and stalls available.

We are therefore looking for volunteers to support the event.  Duties will include the following:-

•            Car Park Marshalls
•            Greeters at each end of the site
•            Help at the Canal & River Trust stand
•            Supporting the Explorers/Children’s activity station.
•            Dog sitters
•            General ushers across the whole site

Stay clear of the dodgilly named Children’s activity station.   It will be hell on the day and even worse afterwards what with the police investigations.
Well, whatever, nevermind
