[serious] I didn't realise there was a problem on the Fiesta until one day I stopped at the wheelie bin to dump some rubbish (and left the engine running). It was making the most awful noise and a quick investigation revealed that the heat shield over the exhaust and protecting the petrol tank was hanging off.
I did some research and a lot of opinion was along the lines of, "you don't need it, take it off".
But there was also a lot of opinion along the lines of, "it must cost Ford a few £s (or €s, it was built in Spain) to make and fit it and they wouldn't do it if it wasn't required for some reason".
I was convinced and repaired it.
