About those fires
I was maybe a bit too dismissive about the newspaper reports. This was one of my pics from last Friday looking at Port Macquarie (just to the right of the winglet)
When we got here Sunday it was pretty clear mainly just a light smokey smell. However talking to locals it really was bad that day
"less than 150 yards visibility" (funnilly for a metric country yes they said 'yards')

A lot of fires around Port Macquarie. But look at the bottom left and it says "There are 0 Emergency Warnings"
We saw a fire about 3 miles from here just past the airport and it's still active and it's definitely smokier here right now (6.55 am)

910 hectares isn't small but there's been a lot bigger and apparently the Alert level is only 'Advice' and status is 'Under Control'
Today is supposed to be a riskier hotter day, we'll keep looking at the horizon and web site
