Lots of fast jet activity here today...  cloud9:
  as long as they're 'ours'

Normally IAF F18s but the two that shot past our window just now looked like Delta wings...  rubschin:
How does the IAF get to fly over you, surely they are a foreign power?

Typhoons?

Dassault Rafales apparently, the Frogs are here too... ::)
  Seriously good platforms are Rafales.  Clearly designed to the 'must look good at air shows' spec but underneath all that is a very good piece of weaponry

I'm pretty sure it was an A-10 Warthog I saw flying into Pafos International earlier!  eeek:

  lovely aircraft that.  Basically an effin big Gatling gun with wings and as ugly as if someone strapped jet engines on Susan Boyle but I love it.  The USAF has tried to kill it off so many times but it's still there

Used to have to go to Eglin AFB and they have (well maybe had) a test building for firing that gun.  They used to put warnings out well in advance because even with all the sound proofing it does make a huge clatter for miles.  God know what effect it has in battle when enemies hear that noise and see their beloved tanks drilled through by that gun

The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
