Not going to Newark again! Newark, the town, has a reputation for trouble, rather like Wrexham, which I went to by accident one Saturday evening and found it to be full of mounted police and brawling lads.

Problem in Newark is largely farm boys and pikeys.

Lock is in the middle of town, pretty much, and sees a few problems.

I had occasion today to tell a couple of lads to clear off as they were in the way and, actually, in danger (15 ton hydraulic lock gates can make a mess).

Their response? To come back with baseball bats!! scared2: scared2: Locked meself in the lock cabin and called 999. Plod were VERY quick and the pikeys fled.

Descriptions (shaved heads, cobweb neck tattoos, shell suits, bats etc) were met with, "Oh, them again".

Fortunately, the lock cabin at Newark is practically armoured cos of all the vandalism and crime.

Shame really, as it is right under this  and should be a pleasant place to spend a day
