Banghead

Should have persisted in not doing it

Right now it's a clusterfuck.  Removing old bust light pretty easy.  But new one needs an earth so up to the roof to delve into the wiring above  noooo:

Previous electricians supposedly professionals have used a light rose fitting to connect up the ring lighting circuit, the extractor fan and the spur to another bedroom.  Getting a fifth earth wire into the earth connector looking fraught but worse the earths weren't really joined up in the first place, and the screw to tighten them is stripped

Next to me lock is a field of cows
A dog walker mentioned to me earlier that one of the cows was behaving strangely and seemed to be stuck in a hedge.
I called the farmer who turned up on a quadbike
He slapped the cow's arse a few times and it reversed out of the hedge, staggered off and fell over  eeek:
I asked him what was wrong

It's pissed. Been eating potatoes from the adjacent field apparently and some sort of fermentation process inside had got it drunk rubschin:

Top tip:  always remember electricians are paid by the job not the hour and are their own quality control

So

Option 1:  give the shop a laugh asking for a ceiling rose that takes 5 cables

Option 2:  do it proper and get two new junction boxes and a new rose from same shop

Option 3:  keep trying to get 5 earth wires onto an earth wire clamp that at best takes 3

Option 4:  bodge it

Actually the bodge looks legal
Well, whatever, nevermind

Oh and if you're ever tempted to buy one of these Paul Neuhaus expensive lamps, don't

First one failed after 2 weeks

Second one lasted 3 years and then half the lights would flash on and off

Well, whatever, nevermind
