Got up at 0515. Bit chilly, so as usual put the heating on.  Normally a couple of seconds before the thermostat says "yeah, OK" and it fires up.

Not this morning. Nada. Zilch. Zero.

Bastard.

As a rental property, it is serviced every year. It is a very old bolier mind. Probably nearly as old as Nick.

It comes on fine to heat the water (in a cylinder) but refuses to take any instructions from the wall thermostat.

A You Tube bodge has worked for now - run the bath, drain all the hot water. Turn hot water on, boiler fires up. Manually move the little lever thing on the diverter valve and lock it in place behind the little tab, otherwise it whirrs back to the other position.

Behold, hot radiators

Right, back to work tomorrow night so I'd better venture into town and do some shopping to ensure I have sufficient "refreshments" for when I get home in the mornings.

Back. 10 minutes to walk into town, 7 minutes shopping and 12 minutes back home again.

An aftenoon of Columbo and refreshments begins.
