A narrow boat gets stuck in the sandbar that EVERYONE on the river knows to avoid. This always happens at the end of the afternoon  evil:

Another a narrow boat offers to try to tow him off but rips his own rudder off in the process  noooo:

So, one narrow boat is stuck on the sandbar and the other narrow boat is using him as an anchor so as not to drift back down the river with no rudder. noooo: noooo:

I ask if they have food and booze (not that I can help with either)

I leave them. No rescue possible until noon tomorrow and that will cost them at least £600 plus repairs

Got challenged to a fist fight by a very aggressive boater who objected to waiting for a second boat to enter the lock. I declined the offer  angel1

"I am in a hurry to get to Lincoln", he yelled. I said, "At 4 mph?". This further enraged him.

The other boat was 50 yards behind  ::)

My boss said that since a lock keeper was murdered recently the Canal Trust is pretty hot on this sort of thing.
