Still stuck here  cry:

And we have to leave this hotel and can't fly until I test negative.  So we called the Consulate for advice.  What a shower.  Your call gets redirected to some lackey in London who just reads from the same web sites we'd already looked at, had to bluntly tell here to put us through to someone in Sydney or get some advice from same.  Eventually they did and we think we won't be out on the street tonight.

Update: better news

The consulate’s advice: ’you don’t have tell anyone’ was taken and we have duly been taxi’d to a hotel that had room tonight and didn’t bat an eyelid at people turning up wearing masks. So not on the street tonight and just a negative test and finding seats on a flight away from being out of here.

And the view ain’t bad. That’s Botany Bay in the background.
