Reflections on '09
« on: December 31, 2009, 05:42:44 PM »
Good feckin' riddance in many ways.

I started the year unemployed but with money in the bank. By June the money had gone and we entered a time of difficulty as Mrs TG had to pay the rent with minimal assistance from the state.

In September I started work as a temp for a couple of weeks and am still there after 3 months and will prolly be there for at least another month.

Last week we noticed that the hot water was not getting.. well... hot. Turns out the gas central heating is on its arse.

Last night I went for ice from the fridge freezer and found that the ice was in fact that well known substance : Water.

Contents of fridge freezer thrown out. Said fridge freezer dead on its arse.

On the other hand..................

I have a job, albeit an uncertain one. Xmas was good, pressies were given and received.

The landlord rose to the occasion after 3 years of nowt from us but rent. Heating engineer has been on site since the day after reported to the landlord.

On the freezer front, we had a chest freezer of our own which contained the meat etc. The fridge freezer was just veggies, bread &c and was the property of the landlord. I phoned them and told them that it was dead at about 9pm this morning and at about 4 pm a brand new very high quality fridge freezer was delivered!

The landlord operates a very good chinese take away over the road and I understand our New Years eve take away will be free, also, they have a present for us.  eeek:

So all in all a bad year that ended reasonably well.

I will hope at least for nothing worse than this next year.

Have a great evening people and feel the lurve radiating out to all from Leicester.  cloud9:

In addition, I got a CD of Enya's Greatest Hits for Xmas.

The real shocker is that I asked for it.  eeek:

Look we all know that Nick is the kind of person that if chaos and catastrophe were lightning, would be stood on top of a hill in a thunderstorm wearing a tinfoil raincoat and yelling all gods are bastards so there is no reason to scare him with possible calamities involving microwaves or Bertie.

Microwaves AND Bertie however......    scared2:

I started my new role 01.01.2009 so the year got off to a fantastic start. Enjoyed the first eight months of it, but due to reorganisation, find I'm no longer doing a job I love, but one that i don't enjoy at the moment. However, seeing others on here that don't have a job reminds me of how fortunate I am to have a job at all. Personal wise, a bit like others on here, ups and downs, but looking forward to 2010. Thanks for the smiles, the chance to unwind with you chaps/chapesses, some days it was really needed. The very best of luck to all for 2010  bond:
