Apart from the obvious jokes, what effect do these have?

Will we have to apologis to France for nicking all the wind before it gets to them?
Will we have a wind war with Iceland if they nick it first?

Without wind, what happens?

America's smartest President shocked the scientific community when he announced that he would solve the world's energy crisis by building 3 million wind-turbines on the Moon.

He stated that the Moon had been chosen for this radical project, because of the NIMBY attitude of the American public to having the noisy and environmentally unfriendly windmills built in their towns and cities.Obama went on to explain that since nobody lived on the Moon, there would be no opposition from noise pollution activists - and because there was no life on the lunar surface, there could be no environmental impact.

Doubts were raised, however, by smart people from America's top Universities, as to how the wind farms would work, seeing that there was no wind on the Moon.Similar anxieties were raised by ace engineers, as to how the electrical power could be sent back to Earth.

Unfazed by any of these petty details, Obama reminded the American people that he was in charge of the planet and that whatever he did must be correct.Obama dispelled any further doubts of his plans as he reflected later that evening on the lawn of his White House home.

He confided to his pet dog, Bo that he feared for the future of the USA, when there was nobody as smart as himself.

Wind farms are beloved of NuLabour and also the Green party. They do not work efficiently, they cost a fvck of a lot to construct, they have a hooooge carbon footprint and use up tremendous quantities of finite resources (cement for example), they are ugly and intrusive blots on our green and pleasant landscape, they kill birds, they attract mahoosive subsidies from Gubmint and EC and somebody is getting very rich out of them. They do not reduce our dependence on other forms of energy production because the wind only blows at the right speed to operate the turbines on average for 1 day in every 8 but we cannot store the energy they do manage to produce so we have to have the same number of generators (nuclear, gas or coal fired) on standby at all times to compensate. The cost of the average wind farm will not be recouped out of energy savings within the 30 year lifetime of the turbines. The cost of removing the turbines at the end of their life will probably bankrupt us.
