How's it going...in the ale 'ouse that is, or should that be OUTSIDE the ale 'ouse? 
Shelters are springing up all over the place 'round here, and it all looks appauling imo. People being treated like cattle, and shoved outside to stand in what in essence are just 1/4 built sheds.

Trouble is brewing I feel. There's already been confrontation and trouble at a hossy in LIVERPOOL apparently, with patients nippin' outside for a crafty one....which is apparently also banned now.
WHY FFS? They're outside, even though it does look undesirable I admit.

More trouble will surely come as the dark cold wet nights approach and drunken club and pub goers will be turfed out for smoking in the bogs by heavy handed bouncers and landlords.

Was ALL this possible/probable confrontational aggro  carefully considered and thought out thouroughly by our dear masters in charge before passing it as law?
Is it also true...as someone told me this week.... that those grossly overpaid arse holes (grade a) are allowed to smoke in the House of Commons bar?

Pubs and clubs should imo have been forced to have dedicated 'smoking rooms' wherever possible, with auto closing doors, extractor fans, and large notices stating that non smokers enter at their own risk.

I'm still off the fags by the way, before anyone claims I'm biased.

The House of Commons Bars are, I believe, exempt because they are not "Public Place".
Oh yes ~ a government full of lawyers that cannot write a law to send a rapist to prison for anything longer than a week can phrase things to suit their own ends.

Maybe not public, but surely it's staffed and managed by non M.P's, non M.P. delivery drivers, non M.P cleaners and maintenance staff.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these therefore 'members of the public'?
What about non smoking M.P's too, or are they and all the above mentioned immune from the after effects and alledged dangers of 2nd hand smoke?

This is just yet ANOTHER bastard example of one rule for us, another rule for that shower of f'ckin shitesters.

I am and always have been a non smoker and was glad of the law if a little aprehensive for many a reason.  I popped in to the local Chavspoons the other day and settled by the window with my pint, some lasses were in celebrating a 21st and every 10 minutes I had a fine array of arses gathered at the window 

I may glue a pound to the pavement.

As for public places in the case of the MP's, what about members only private clubs.  They are not public places, people sign to abide by certain rules so why couldn't smoking be added as something that they would 'tolerate'?

Most hospitals have banned it from their entire grounds to make it more of a challenge for the ill.  It also results in A&E staff being further from their positions come a serious emergency.

It has always been the 'exemptions' the lawmakers grant themselves that has made me so evil-minded to the powers-that-be for their complete contempt for the common herd (us).

They allow themselves unrestricted duty frees and exempted privileges, everything they need, and they still manage to break their own laws and still get away with it.

Starting the ban in summer was a masterstroke. They expect y'all to be suitably too cowed by the time the winter weather comes around to make a fuss.

The other clever bit was to make the landlord the villain in enforcing it because they reckon that most people will baulk at lumbering mine host with a ?2,500 fine for being bloody minded.

We will see just how far loyalty goes once the winter rain,ice and snow gets here, it'll be interesting! especially as it is the government that has engendered the lack of concern for anyone else which I suspect they will soon be seeing.

The fundamental error was not agreeing to selected smoking areas.  and that has displayed contempt and a failure to accommodate the interests of a substantial body of people that have lost their basic rights when we all have to jump through hoops to please other minority groups of which some just don't deserve it.

Apparently, prisoners are still allowed to smoke in their cells  but wardens are not allowed to smoke.

How about this for madness then: - Monkey World, Dorset last week.  There are 2 designated smoking areas.  Came upon one of them which was a meadow next to another (non smoking) meadow divided by a wire fence!

In another area a sign declared that no smoking was allowed because the monkeys don't like it.  (I wasn't thinking of offering them one)

I'm not against the ban but the manner in which some public places have been forced to comply is farcical.

I keep thinking people are out on strike when I see a large group of workers standing around outside their workplace in yellow jackets! (Thats another thing that brings on a rant.  the prevalence of hi-vis jackets and stupid warning signs.
