It is made from Hemp seed. Hemp may be legally grown under licence in the UK. They use the plant fibre to make rope, very pretty pale flowers that people often mistake for a field of lavender until they get a whiff of it.

 Mary-joanna is made from the dried leaves of the Cannabis Plant ~ Or so I am led to believe, not that I would know or anything like  whistle:

Slightly different varieties of the same species.

Cannabis needs heat to grow, hemp does not. Cannabis is high in THC (a chemical that gives you a high) whereas Hemp is low in THC.
