Demolition Distractions
« on: March 30, 2010, 11:38:34 AM »
I work in a 18 storey building. There is a similar building next door ,however that is due for demolition. In it's place is to be a new snazzy, all glazed and chromey , with  cafes, shops  'n' stuff on the ground floor and office accommodation.

The works commenced at the end of last week ( due to be completed in time for the Olympics of course  whistle: ) . I sit by the window at mid level of the building and longside the side they are doing works. The distraction potential this is causing is hoooge.

After watching them put up all the scaffolding last week , I am now happily watching them demolish the back addition to the building. There is something so satisfying about seeing things destroyed  redface: . It is not an attractive building to be fair.

However what is really distracting is suddenly seeing people when gazing out the window at eye level  eeek:

Can't wait for the pile driving to start in a couple of months... noooo:...

Wait for the hot sunny days, when the dust starts to permeate your building.

Also if they use concrete grinders you will feel some serious vibrations.  razz:

Apparently to prevent the noise and dust they will be using ' a silent , vibration free piling rig and spraying a mist of water over the rubble '

Mmmmmm if only I was so optimistic  noooo:

Is this a demolition or an M&S demolition?

It's a demolition site next door to a local authority building with a load of enforcement officers of various disciplines just watching and waiting  whistle:
