I had to run a driver thingymydooberry wotsit and reinstall it ...but it worked

Despite my computer telling me that sound is installed and functioning, I have no sodding sound on my computer.   I will get a man in after which I will take my computer somewhere and get it repaired.

I may regret asking this but have you set the sound to mute or knocked the volume off. I only ask because an IT manager I once worked with went from ranting rage to a very red face when I pointed that out to him. Failing that ae your codecs up to date or corrupted.
