Death of H.I.P.S.
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:16:49 PM »
Estate agents have welcomed the news that controversial home information packs (Hips) are being scrapped with immediate effect.
The move means homeowners will no longer need to spend money providing one of the packs before they can put their property up for sale.
Communities Secretary Eric Pickles laid an order before Parliament suspending Hips, pending primary legislation for a permanent abolition.

Excellent start, and good riddance to this labour tax on home sellers.

Do carry on. happy088

Hindsight is a great thing granted, but she should have waited until after the election p'raps?
Was it actually in the Tory manifesto?

I suspect the decision to scrap that additional sellers tax has gone down rather well then ey? lol:
Well done the two C's. happy088

The number of homes being put on the market has soared by a third since the Government announced plans to scrap home information packs, an estate agency has said.

The UK's biggest estate agency Countrywide said it had seen a 34% rise in the number of people selling their home after the announcement.

It said new instructions, up 68% compared with the same period a year ago, are now at levels last seen in September 2007 - shortly after home information packs (Hips) were first introduced.

"This decision has provided homeowners with the incentive they need to put their properties on the market.

"Those sellers that were in two minds are now doing so and causing a big spike in activity for agents."

The biggest increase was in the Central and West Midlands region, where there was a 126% jump in new instructions
