Sorry, just got back ~ been to the tip with a load of junk in the continuing saga of clearing the garage. Then we went to a PYO to get Gooseberries, Redcurrants and Raspberries. Last weekend we got Raspberries and Strawberries and they have all been made into jam and are now sat in jars in the pantry. This afternoon making Gooseberry jam, Redcurrant Jelly and prolly some Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream. The once again the kennel is preparing for the coming year and hopes to be self-sufficient in jams etc. Next pick and make will be in the Autumn when we will be doing the same with Blackberries, Crab apples and other hedgerow delights.

TBH we gave up on pickling our own onions some years back ~ mainly because we never got round to eating them. One jar of small silverskins for Christmas eating is all we would normally eat anyway. A large jar of pickled Quails Eggs on the other hand will be done within the next couple of weeks + a couple of jars of pickled Chicken Eggs.

Remarkably good put down I read recently ~ when asked what he thought of the wine he had been served the guest asked how they had managed to train the cat to sit on the top of the bottle  lol:

At the time of reading that I thought "I MUST" remember that one to use at a later date. If any of you get the chance do let me know.

Oh ~ It was in a Stephen Fry book but still well worth using.
