Many years ago, when I was but a lad, 10 of of us were off on holiday down south in a converted bedford van. We pulled over into a lay by for a picknick in the middle of nowhere.
Halfway through the first ham sarnie there was an earth shattering roar and the arrows did what seemed like a bomb run out of nowhere on our van, We were then treated to the entire show.
Turned out we were next to the airfield and they were training.
I've seen them since but have never forgotten that day. They were flying Gnats then I think. When we got to the holiday destination it was straight down the shop to buy the Airfix model. I think I was nine.
I want to be nine again.
