I've been watching the BBC coverage of the initial tests and while I'm not en expert I think that Dr Singh made a slight mistake when he was talking about what could go wrong if one of hte magnets failed. Given that there are a fair few people worried that this experiment has serious risks the last phrase you want to use when talking about a failure is 'death ray' even if you qualify it immediately afterwards by saying ti would destroy circuitry within CERN.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.

I think that should read 'partial experts on physics'.  noooo:

How does the 'beam' go 'half-way'?

Do the protons just run out of juice and drop into a little heap on the floor at the midpoint?

I stayed beneath the duvet until John Humphries told me it was safe to come out. Then that Adam Hart-Davies started  interviewing some chappie with an improbable name and all AH-D could find to say was "WOW!" & "INCREDIBLE" & "WOW!" again so I sent and had a sh*t, followed by a shave and a shower.

Morning all ~ another anti climax I see, still at least the weather is pleasant for it. whistle:
