I probably need the gym work more than ever now. Not working for 9 months means I have been doing a lot less walking and generally moving about, lifting etc.
These bloody statins make my muscles ache like crazy.
I've had my statins reduced to the lowest possible level because of muscular aches and pains. Only take 10mg a day now and guess what ~ Cholesterol levels have dropped since I stopped taking the more "aggressive" dosage of statins ~ Cardiologist is thinking of writing a "paper" on the subject as I am not the first where this has happened.
My new regime of statins is: Simvastatin 10mg daily supplemented by also taking Ezetimibe 10mg daily and I have been on that for a year now and the "Bad" Cholesterol levels have almost halved.
I know a lady, in her late 50s who has been a marathon runner for years. She was put on "aggresive" statins because they said her Cholesterol levels were far too high and she would almost certainly have a stroke or heart attack. The effect was dramatic. Within 6 months she could no longer jog, let alone run. She complained to her doctor, who referred her to my cardio. He reduced the statins, gave her the same supplement as me and she is now planning to run again. Statins are not the wonder drug the government would have us believe ~ but they are cheap and they do prevent heart attacks and strokes so in Government minds the fact that Doctors are acting under orders to put all at risk ie older people on statins will save the NHS money ~ even if the old folk cannot walk to the fecking bus stop because of the drugs.
