He reckons the boards have not been touched (apart from linseed oil and feet) since it was built

It's probably in that box that you put away with The Boy's soft toys which were under the desk in the office but you had to move out because of the dust and then later placed it under the stairs for a time just before the Tesco delivery came and had to be moved to get at the freezer which you've since moved out of the garage... so, take a look in the kitchen where the gadgets used to be before the decorator took down that shelving unit and flat-packed it in one of the spare bedrooms... and if it isn't there, go back to the office and log onto Amazon and buy a new one...  angel1
