You didn't 'let it get burgled' .... noooo: They would have got in whether you opened the door or not. Do not blame yourself Mr  noooo:

Whilst the loss of possessions and damage is upsetting it could have been far worse. Things can be replaced and fixed ...I'm sure they feel dreadful you went through such an experience - that's not so easy to forget.
