Thanks for the battery tips ..... I'll give it a go ....meanwhile my new monster PC arrives tomorrow.
By then...  whistle:

Ordered this morning with loads of upgrades of memory etc thrown in.
It will do all I require.

HP Pavilion A6021.uk, Intel D 925 Dual Core processor (2 x 3Ghz)
1GB DDR2 Ram, 160GB hard disk drive, LightScribe DVD Writer
Intel GMA 950 224MB Graphics (32MB dedicated) 5.1 Audio sound
10/100 LAN, 15 in 1 memory card reader, 4 x USB and 1 x PCIe ports

Vesta? Vista?

Unfortunately .... the only draw back I can see, can't find anything with XP ... BUT I can unistall Vista and install Linux or XP from disks I have here. May even put both in whistle:
You'll loathe Vi$ta before the week is out... go to HP's web site and start downloading the XP drivers for it now...  whistle:

On a lot of new boxes there are only Vista drivers available! Been through this problem already with a laptop here which somebody tried to rebuild - check first.
Eeeeek!  scared2: You're right...

You will not spoil my day .... this is my first new PC in 5 years and I am going to enjoy it and listen to NO-ONE because everyone will say "You should add" or "You need to put in" etc .... Bollox! ..... If it word processes, lets me shop on line and allows me access to here I want for nothing else. I do NOT play games, download videos or music and have no desire to. It is all the fvcking bells and whistles that everyone has told me I MUST have that have bolloxed the other machines.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

You tell 'em Snoopy.

I bought a laptop with Vista last year. Works perfectly bar printing through the XP wireless network. I could download the necessary software for the XP machine that has the printer connected but I'll probably be replacing that soon.

Funny you should say that but the new printer, purchased with the treasurer's permission, a couple of weeks ago came out of its box yesterday and had two installation discs. One for XP and one for Vista .... so I'll have no problems with that little installation then.

That's for Carling. No idea what they are charging for Stella or Guinness.

Ordinary is £2-62.

And we've still got the Budget to get through!

Youngs are not known for cheapness. Does keep a lot of the scum out though.

Probably a £1 to £1-50 cheaper at The Festering Moon (Wetherspoons) up the road.
