Now you see BM, this is exactly...or one of...the reason/s I couldn't do what you're doing.

I wanted/ed a classic to show, but I wanted it now, not in a couple of years time when it's completed.

Apart from not having the expertise to take on such a task, I haven't got the time, and I CERTAINLY haven't got the patience either.

I'd probably have launched your project off the Pier 'ed withing 6 weeks of starting.

No disrespect intended whatsover, and I thouroughly admire your dedication and patience.
You will be rightly proud of your project once completed...summat I'll never achieve. ;)

He sold it on the promise that I would give him first option on buying it when it was finished!  Thumbs:

The rest of the paint looks quite sound - they obviously filled that in and re-sprayed it! happy001

I remember going to an air-show once and seeing a brand new Rover Sd1... it was like August 2nd or something so it was fresh  from the showroom...

...and both sills were full of rust...  noooo:

Got talking to the owner of this XJ. Top man he was. Great sense of humour.
Nowt pretentious about him, unlike some of the other Jag owners there. ::)
