Oh yes, and do you know owt about sourcing and fitting of these motorbike carbs some rave about as a replacement for the standard wheezy unreliable mechanical bellows system  that is currently fitted?

Someone said they're ded expensive like, but will be more reliable, more economical, and will make the car go like hot snot...apparently. 8)

You need to make sure that the coil is not a ballast coil as you will be applying the full 12V to it...

They do sell 'electronic ignition' coils... but I'm thinking they are just normal 12V coils....

Well.....

You can get bike carbs cheap on the Intermong as we crash so many of them....  redface:

BUT you need to get a good manifold machined up to make use of them....

And as you know, if the air flow is not just right then they won't work at all....

I'd stay away from bike carbs....

So what's being applied to it now then?

Looks like the original one is still on it.

As said earlier, leccy stuff is a total mine field of mysteries to me.

I dunno....

In the old days... when I was a nipper like....  whistle:

Anyhooo... in the okld days the coil used to just have 12V on it....

Then they introduced a ballast coil which had a resistor to drop the volts and was supposed to make starting easier...

So the coil worked off 7V or summat...

In the Mini the ballast wire (resistor) used to overheat and destroy the loom...

Check the spec on the side of the coil and see what it says - if it says 12V then you will be fine....  Thumbs:

 whistle:

All this modern shite have coil packs now, (coil for each plug basically, built into the HT lead) and they're crap, and they break down leaving you stranded, and they're VERY expensive, and basically....I HATE THEM! evil:
