That Princess Di like a metro  Gayer: Gayer: Gayer: Gayer:

Look, tits for brains, have you ever driven one?
Probably not, so shut yer crack ey?

I hired one just after they were launched, and was mighty impressed at the time.
Loads of space in them, and quite good fun to drive back then too.

6R4 would have been even nicer like. whistle:

I used to hire them oftenly from a place in Pimlico. Also 2CVs from Two Horse Hire  cloud9:

When there were many 2CV's on the road I doubt that there wasn't a week went by without me and me two colleagues attending one of them on fire  noooo:

One other story on these, a colleague use to have one, and because of the canvas roof if he was making a site visit, as he got in the car he use to hold a metal plate on the inside of the roof while he placed the magnetic based beacon light on the top of it. He drew a few smiles from me one day when I was driving behind him and he was moving the metal plate around the roof making the light dance around the roof...Oh, and one day he submitted a hefty mileage claim, and the Resident Engineer (big cheese) told him to f**k off because the car wasn't worth that much

I was on a site visit fairly close to here yesterday Spotted a few early arrivals making there way down with open van loads of what looked to me like scrap iron, I'm sure they'll sell most of it though

Reminded me of this all stacked up

I'd fecking love a Mini Metro... we had a MG Metro and an MG metro Turbo years back - great cars....  cloud9:

This is only a 1.0 bogo in orange though BM. whistle:

It does however benefit from added eaxtras and goodies such as a HRW, rear wash wipe, AND headrests on the front passenger seats! lol:

Got the A + series engine I noticed btw.
What's the plus signify, d'ya know? confused:

No sarcy comments from other readers please, thank you. ::)

Quote
The A+ engine came on to the mini scene in 1983. It has a thicker block to box flange and is generally more robust than the standard A series. Operationally it's pretty much identical and is the same capacity. Heads/boxes are swappable.

Here are the A+ distinguishing features:

Strengthening ribs on the back of the block at the clutch end

    Thicker block-gearbox flange

Dizzy clamp is a forked plate with a single bolt into the block

Dipstick sits directly in block, not in a tube, and is shorter

Verto clutch, slave on plate slanting downwards, short arm. (NOTE: The very first A+ engines had a pre-verto clutch)

Alternator bracket mounting holes are closer to the rad on the A block

'A+' stickers on rocker cover if a Metro!

NOTE : The 1275 crank fouls the inside of the gearbox casting on earlier 1960s unless the 'box came off an "S" originally. They standardised in '68 or '69.

The change over to A+ didn't occur on all parts at once. Some engines had eg: A+ block and pre-verto clutch, and some had A block/box and A+ bits bolted on. Maybe BL running down stock.

One correspondent has an A+ engine as described above, but it was the original engine from a 1981 New Zealand model 1275GT. It does not have a verto clutch, but the gearbox is the A+ type, and so is the block. It could have just been a test by Austin-Rover to see if their engine was any good before it was released in the UK in 1983.

Didn't take me camera with me last weekend, ruddy plank. Banghead

He lives in Munterchester, so not too far.

It just looks like a new one though.

One thing I noticed which I thought might be wrong though was the fact that it had 'flush' headlights as opposed to the sunken/reccessed  ones that I thought the base model had/has? rubschin:
