I love the way the Haynes manual says "Extract the split pin and withdraw the clevis pin", neglecting to mention that you need the skills of a keyhole surgeon and/or gynaecologist in order to do so...  evil:

I appear to be bleeding from the top of mi ed...  redface:

Should have kept the bucket on.  noooo:

Originals is a must, as is the finish....imo.

Seems to be what you're thinking antway, so do carry on.
Inspection will be held after completion of refurbishment.

How's yer 'ed then?

First of much blood and tear shedding I fear.

Right I shall get the rostyles blasted tomorrow and then spray painted with hardened paint in metallic silver.

Then get some nice rubber on them like which will be a great incentive to get the car on them again...  cloud9:

Me bloody head urts like ell like!  cussing:

All going well although I still can't move the drivers side wiper gear box and now I can't get the bloody pedal box to move either...  noooo:

Still, will be easier to work on both once the engine is out...

I can't remember what the wheels looked like on the GT.
Rostyles you say/

That would indicate to me that they'd be silver with black bits too iirc.  rubschin:

I'll have to check back into some archive piccies like, but if that's the way it's got to be, then that's it.

These are the same wheels...

So we could have all silver or black bits like you say like...?  rubschin:

Sorry mate, and I know it's a pain in the arse, but the centers HAVE to be painted black as in those pictures.

I've seen wheels, such as on my AX GT, that have been completely painted silver when they should have black sections too, and they just look so wrong, obviously painted, and pitifully shite, as though the owner just couldn't be arsed finishing the job of properly.
Do it properly and it'll look absolutely ace.

On saying all that, I still don't remember the GT having those wheels in the first place tbh. confused:

Very very nice, but I notice the wheels are ALL silver. rubschin:

I'm sure the centers are supposed to be black.
I need to find an original manufacturers brochure on it, to confirm it one way or the other.

If I find one, or should I say two, I'll post one to you. The other one can go into G jnrs absolutely mahooooosive car brochure collection. cloud9:

All this excitement....for you and me at least, is stoking my fire to get the AX GT sorted now too. cloud9:
A very rare car now these days.

Well, I like the silver and I've managed to find the chrome 'centres' too (on order!)...

Once they are done I'll refurbish the alloys that are on it and get them silver/back and see what looks best...

Right.

Wheels dropped off at the shot blasters... Expected a high-tech set-up but it is basically a field in the middle of nowhere! He has some awesome cars there including a Jaguar 4.2 in perfect condition... Drool:

Chose the spray paint for the wheels - Daf Metallic Silver

Bought myself:

1 x 2 tonne trolley jack
4 x 2 tonne axle stands
1 x 1 tonne chain host with a 4m lift

I'm gonna fix the hoist to the garage ceiling (it is concrete) with a mahoosive raw bolt...

Decided now to pull the engine and gearbox and leave a rolling chassis that can be welded up prior to stripping out the subbies, soda blasting and painting...

OK?
