Vinyl I suspect, but I could be very wrong, in fact  no, I think they were cloth, as the standard Clubman me mum had in '78 had cloth iirc.

Had a bugger of a job trying to remove the drive shafts today so the engine is still in at the moment...

  Going on the minis I have owned over the years all you need to do is hit a pothole and the drive shaft is broken in half anyway.
