Why not just drop the front subframe with the running gear and the engine altogether, like

Growler... what seat material are we going to have... the front seats are black vinyl and the rear cloth at the moment...

What was the original material, that's the question?

Luv the way you keep talking 'WE' here, as though it's part mine like. whistle:

The fronts are all vinyl, the rears are vinyl/cloth...

Want a picture...?

Oh yes, always want piccies, and most important that you take plenty too.

Still probably won't know what the originals were though will we?
Vinyl I suspect, but I could be very wrong, in fact  rubschin: no, I think they were cloth, as the standard Clubman me mum had in '78 had cloth iirc.

Here...

Had a bugger of a job trying to remove the drive shafts today so the engine is still in at the moment...  evil:

If one of those is the original, my dosh is on the cloth.

Full leather conversion is the way forward, unless you can get the original material that is?
Don't just throw any old random crappy material in there though. noooo:

Need to do some research here you know.

Has the Cyprus Mini Owners Club got a forum that you could ask these sort of questions on?

That was the original plan...

At the last moment I decided it was better and more convenient to have a 'rolling chassis' with the subframes in while the welding was done...

So the front seat was the original finish then?

That's great that you've found someone to do them as original.  happy088
Think I'd be struggling to find that exact material tbqh.

I ran out of steam this arvo tho... I started undoing the last four bolts that hold the engine but I was exhaustimicated...   noooo:

I didn't think I could manage to push it in the garage under the winch and have the engine out... so I packed up and had a boiling hot shower - complete with washing up liquid to get the muck off...  redface:
