Carpet (Small rugs) often "walk" when placed on other, perhaps fitted, carpets. My Mother used to sew a rubber ring from a kilner jar on each corner of the rug to prevent this migration which was caused by the traffic of feet walking over the rug.

Nowadays you can buy products in Tesco etc to stop rugs from walking on wooden floors too.

See: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-0074.aspx

Now can we please stop being silly? The rug is not haunted. You are not Aladin and it will not fly you to old Persia.  ::)

No they snuggle up together to talk to each other, which means they move. Simples.

Why not keep watch on it tonight? Arm yourself with a torch, sit close by and wait.

That's what I thought Snoopy, but the piece of carpet in question is "her side" of the bed and yet the carpet still moved when she was in Swindon from Monday to Friday.

Nick - the same happens in my house. Mrs TMRBB has an offcut as a sort of rug, in the bedroom. Over the course of a day, it will migrate at least 3 feet.

I am sure it is just me but I am going to have a restless night thinking or rather trying not to think about Mrs TMRBB's migrating rug in the bedroom.  Far too much information IMHO
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.
