Armrest protocol
« on: June 25, 2010, 06:31:56 AM »
So how does this work then ?

If you're on a tube, bus , train, cinema etc and you are sharing an armrest with a stranger who has right of way ?

Happily resting my arm on one such ingeniously called armrest this morning when blokey sits next to me and tries to muscle in on my space. Now being there first surely I have claimed the space as my own and he needs to tuck his elbows in and just deal with this. Instead he choose to try and manoeuvre a compromise. This lady does not compromise with strangers  evil:

Yes, but what is the acceptable delay before moving in, should the restee temporarily relinquish the occupation to scratch their head for example.

We need proper guidelines.

I think so. It needs a level head and practiced eye for detail.  rubschin:

And does the restee have rights to both rests just by virtue of being there first....?

Absolutely ....otherwise you would need to sit at an angle and that is simply not good for your posture  whistle:

Same problem on hairyplanes. Mind you, I have sat next to people so fat that you can't actually see the armrest  noooo:

But presumably they all left the plane or demanded another seat once they realised it was you.  whistle:

Excellent news  happy088

And what is the guidance for the space shuffler ...the one who puts their elbow in front or behind yours in a barbaric attempt to 'share' the armrest ????
