I shall let you know after Norman has checked it over. Growler informed me that it has alloy wheels with a locking nut. So at least the wheels are still on, which is a fooking miracle in Scouseland

So the VP view is that the bearings are fooked (car has done 75000) and that these are cheapish to replace. Costs anyone? I shall take it to the excellent, if scruffy, Norman Hand in the morning.

This will be the excellent, if scruffy, Norman Hand who so recently gave it a grade A MOT check but failed to point out a potentially lethal problem would it?

I await a tirade from the Petrol Heads to tell me that checking such matters as bearing wear doesn't feature in an MOT Test. ::)

I have PM'd.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

It's stoopid. You have to keep the key in the car for wheel changing, like  cussing:

Have you seen the size of locking wheel nut remover on a Land Rover? It is larger than the key fob. It is frankly Hoooooge and weighs a lot. I keep it in the place provided in the car.
We are talking a real deal here ~ not some twopenny-halfpenny job from Poundstretcher. The device to remove lockable wheel nuts on my car and the one on the wife's Corsa are  fecking great sockets. Even SWWLTBO would draw the line at adding that to her handbag.
