Mrs DS #2 and my mother always did.
It was apparently 'improper and disrespectful' not to do so.
We are talking vanilla C of E here, nothing 'high'.

Indeed DS, my mother always used to wear a hat to Church. The Laydees around these parts seem partial to a hat head-dress. It's usually a daring architectural construction cut from the 50 yards of material used to make the dress. Mind you, this is no ordinary Church; they have names like "The Holy Risen Church of In-Believers Awaiting The Sacred Secret Blessings".

They also make an extraordinary amount of noise  eeek:

In my church going days DS I covered my hair heaven forbid you should wear trousers.
I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

I think we should encourage more of us to wear the berka - they are flattering, a girl can have bad hair days and get away with it, no need to shave yer legs etc  happy088
