With ours, if we fancy rolls instead of a loaf, we can set it to mix, knead etc through the night and then take the dough out in the morning, cut and shape it into rolls and they cook in the fan oven in about 20 mins (often less, depends on size of rolls). Great for Breakfast ~ there are never any left for lunch!
As for the fancy breads ~ having one child allergic to nuts, seeds etc that is not something we do. Although he wouldn't eat the resultant bread we were warned of the dangers of "cross contamination" by his Consultant so such things never even enter the house. In theory you can add anything to the bread mix BUT a breadmaker will, at the end of the day, only make bread ....... NOT CAKES!
For those who want to try it out it is not a quick exercise (Knowing the Bear's impatience when it comes to his grub). From start to finish a loaf will take several hours so no point in saying "I fancy some fresh bread" and hoping to bung the makings into the machine and be eating it ten minutes later. It is best done overnight but if your bedroom is over the kitchen you will hear it churning away!
Well if it'll do that to bread mix, why can't it do a cake mix?
Same thing, mixing/kneeding in'it....roughly like in'it?
It will NOT make cake ~ trust us on this. Cakes need much less time in both preparation and cooking and they need a different temperature.
