Holiday destinations

Unencumbered as I am with sprogs, family and the like, like, my thoughts were turning to a holiday over the Christmas break 

Nothing would please me more than turning my back on this Septic Isle a couple of days before the feast of JC and enjoying the delights of some far flung land for 7 - 10 days    My attention has been brought to Sousse in Tunisia; great food, climate, archaeology, souks, swimming...

Anyone been there?  Any other suggestibles?

My Dad loved Tunis and had been many times.  He went twice during his last 12 months and was very ill on the last visit so the maid took it on herself to spend the afternoons sitting and sewing in his room.  It is on my list and was thinking of going there myself for an autumn top up.  The Tunisian Manager of an Etap in St Raphael last year gave me his email address and instructions that should I go I must get in touch so that he can ask his Mum to look after me.  Lovely people. (and they speak French  ) And the golf is good, not that I have been allowed I play.

 Luvlee extremely friendly peeoples, and loads of cars from the 50's/60s still knockin' about to take you back to your child'ud.

Must go back there soon again meself.

I fancy a winter crimbo break stuck in a mountain lodge in Switzerland.

Mrs G sez that crimbo is for being at home with the family.....most of whom, what's left of them, now go away for crimbo.

I fancy a winter crimbo break stuck in a mountain lodge in Switzerland.

Mrs G sez that crimbo is for being at home with the family.....most of whom, what's left of them, now go away for crimbo.

You'd need somewhere with central heating or a mahoosive log fire... like...

Malta, yes, a pleasant enough place and Cyprus too but they both are predominantly Christian whereas Tunisia is Islamic and with a bit of luck the JC fest will be toned down if present at all.

Tunisia winter weather is mild, with plenty of warm days and at least six hours of sunshine a day for winter golf fans. There may be some rain but it tends to fall in short bursts. You may have a little rain in spring and autumn too, but you should certainly not worry about sunshine. Tunisia receives more than 8 hours sunshine at least 6 months of the year. Tunisia winter temperatures can go quite low inland in the mountains but very few winter visitors will be venturing away from the pleasant weather in the coast resorts, which are fast becoming established winter sun holiday favourites.
